WIN tickets to Gein's Family Giftshop & Goose at the Little Theatre!

Hello comedy fans, it's been a while, hope you're keeping well...
I also hope you've been keeping up with the city's recent comedy happenings, using the regular listings and updates that are posted by the lovely folks at Leicester Fridge on their facebook page.

Here at Leicester Comedy Scene, we're pretty excited to have been contacted by the agents for award-winners Goose and Gein's Family Giftshop, to spread the word about their fantastic double-header happening at the Little Theatre on May 25/26, and to offer a pair of free tickets for each show to you lucky people! These really are two fantastic shows, so I would highly recommend clearing a space in your diary to go and see them...

Gein's Family Giftshop
(Wed 25 May, 7.30pm, £10/£8)

"Memorably unsettling" - The Daily Mail
"Blistering... twisted, surreal humour" - Metro
"Would unsettle even the darkest League of Gentlemen fan" - Sunday Times

The quotes say it all really - this is top quality stuff. Gein's Family Giftshop is sketch comedy taken to its most twisted extreme, performed to perfection by Kath Hughes, Edward Easton and James Meehan. They're so good that former League of Gentlemen stars Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton invited them to appear in an episode of their superb Inside No. 9 series. They can also count comedy royalty Daniel Kitson and Tim Key as fans.

As if you needed further confirmation of their quality, they've picked up all sorts of awards including a coveted Chortle Award for Best Newcomer, and a nomination for Best Newcomer at comedy's most prestigious prizegiving, the Foster's Edinburgh Comedy Awards. Check out some of the excellent sketches they've committed to film, on their YouTube channel.

They will be performing a sort of 'greatest hits' show entitled Trophy Collection, with stand-up support from the group's co-writer and non-performing fourth member Kiri Pritchard-Mclean.

Tickets and more info can be found here.

Goose
(Thu 26 May, 7:30pm, £8/£6)

"one of the best reviewed shows of the Edinburgh Fringe 2015" - British Comedy Guide
“Astonishing energy…A blizzard of characterisation…Hugely impressive” - Daily Mirror
"You just have to submit to this force of nature, until it deposits you, dizzy but exhilarated" - Chortle

I was lucky enough to see Goose's show Kablamo on my birthday at last year's Edinburgh Fringe, and I must admit I was totally blown away. A ridiculously silly spoof spy movie, condensed into an hour and performed at breakneck speed by one-man sweat factory Adam Drake, it was an exhausting but highly rewarding hour. Written by Drake along with Ben Rowse, the admirable script was densely packed with sight gags, wordplay, Family-Guy style cutaway gags and more twists than a pack of salt&vinegar twirls.

Goose will not only be performing Kablamo in full, but also 'supporting themselves' with a work-in-progress show before the main feature. Trust me - for the amount of gags (and sweat) that will be fired off during the evening, this ticket is very good value for money indeed!

WIN A PAIR OF TICKETS FOR EACH SHOW!

The wonderful chaps at Paul Sullivan PR (who are promoting both shows) have kindly offered us a pair of tickets for each show, and all you have to do to win one of the two pairs is share this post on facebook or retweet this post on twitter.
That way lots more people will hear about the show, the room will be full, the performers will be able to afford to eat, their agents will be able to afford their fourth jacuzzi, the shows will be fantastic and literally everybody in the world will be happy. Probably.

Competition closes at 11:59pm on Wednesday 18th May, at which point two names will be picked at random from those that shared/retweeted, and each of them will win a pair of tickets to one of the shows... so get sharing and retweeting folks, and good luck!
